Cant Farm, Rock.

Cant Farm as you see it today started life in 1985 and was formed from a group of derelict buildings surrounding the farmhouse. It has been owned by the same family who rescued it then and ran it as deluxe holiday homes in a very private and peaceful setting. A year ago there were some changes in ownership of the individual houses, but the overall estate and farmhouse remain with the original owners in order to maintain the land in good condition and ensure the high standards obtained over the years continue for everybody's benefit.

There are half a dozen golf holes and a tennis court on the estate and the land runs down to the waters edge. Cant Farm is situated on the north bank of the Camel estuary about a mile up river from Rock, and all the houses have lovely wide river views from their terraces.

The three wrecks in the creek are all that remains of some boats that were left behind early in the twentieth century when the old boat repair yard situated at Cant finally closed. In those days it was possible to walk on the sand without sinking in. The three ketches remaining down on the beach are 'Kate', 'Isabella' and 'Drunken Jane'. From this you can see where two of the houses got their names, and why the third one wasn't used!
