Cant Farm
Cant Farm is situated on the north bank of the Camel Estuary about a mile up river from Rock, and all the houses have lovely wide river views from their terraces. The three wrecks in the creek are all that remains of some boats that were left behind early in the twentieth century when the old boat repair yard - situated at Cant - finally closed. In those days it was possible to walk on the sand without sinking in. The three ketches remaining down on the beach are ‘Kate’,‘Isabella’ and ‘Drunken Jane’. From this you can see where two of the houses got their names, and why the third one wasn’t used!
There are half a dozen golf holes and a tennis court on the estate and the land runs down to the water’s edge.
